Glimmer of hope
Gestern wurde die Nachricht bekannt, dass in England die Quarantäne-Pflicht bei der Einreise ab 10. Juli aufgehoben wird. Gerade rechtzeitig also für meinen Urlaub ab 08. August. Jetzt bleibt zu hoffen, dass die Lage an allen drei Ländern (UK, Niederlande und Österreich) soweit stabil bleibt, dass diese Bestimmungen in den nächsten Wochen auch nicht wieder verschärft werden.
The news was announced yesterday that the quarantine obligation in England will be lifted on July 10th. Just in time for my vacation from August 8th. It is now to be hoped that the situation in all three countries (UK, Netherlands and Austria) will remain stable enough that these provisions will not be tightened again in the next few weeks.
Die niederländischen Behörden sehen die Lage in Großbritannien zwar nach wie vor kritisch, bei der Einreise wird eine Quarantäne allerdings nur empfohlen, nicht aber angeordnet. Da wir jedenfalls mit und auf dem Boot unterwegs sein werden, sind wir ja ohnehin weitgehend isoliert.
The Dutch authorities are still critical of the situation in Great Britain, but a quarantine is only recommended on arrival, but not ordered. In any case, since we will be traveling with and on the boat, we are largely isolated.

Nach kurzer Rücksprache mit Michael habe ich heute auch gleich den Flug gebucht: Am 08. August um 07:15 soll es los gehen. Wie es dann weiter geht, ist auch schon recht klar: die Pläne, die wir im März machten sollten jetzt, fünf Monate später, auch noch passen.
Nach der Ankunft werden wir wohl noch am Samstag mit einem Mietauto auf Einkaufstour gehen. Es fehlt noch einiges an Ausrüstung. Wir werden uns auch gleich verproviantieren, damit wir mit den Lebensmitteln schon einmal autark sind.
Wenn dann das Funkgerät eingebaut und alles noch einmal überprüft ist, werden wir so bald als möglich die erste Testfahrt machen. James, der Vorbesitzer, ist eingeladen, daran teilzunehmen.
Nipp-Zeit im August ist am Donnerstag, dem 13. Das gibt uns ca. fünf Tage, um alles vorzubereiten und uns an das Boot zu gewöhnen. Da wir zu der Zeit noch unseren Liegeplatz in der Marina haben werden, stehen Tagesausflüge auf dem Programm, damit wir das Boot so gut wie möglich kennen und beherrschen lernen, bevor wir uns an die Überquerung der Nordsee machen.
After a short consultation with Michael I booked the flight today: On August 8th at 7:15 am we shall start. How the programme will continue is already quite clear: the plans we were supposed to follow in March, should be still going well, five months later.
After the arrival, we will most probably go shopping with a rental car on Saturday. There is still some lack of equipment. We will also buy provisions for ourselves immediately so that we are self-sufficient with food and drink.
When the radio is installed and everything is checked, we will do the first trial sails as soon as possible. James, the previous owner, is invited to participate.
Neap-tide in August is on Thursday the 13th. This gives us about five days to prepare everything and get used to the boat. Since we will still have our berth in the marina at that time, we will do some daytrips so that we can get to know and master the boat as well as possible before we start crossing the North Sea.
