Am 8. August sollen Michael und ich nach Ost-England reisen, um pepperbird abzuholen und auf den Kontinent zu bringen…
On 8th of August Michael and I shall travel to Eastern England to pick up pepperbird and transfer her to the continent.
Sie sieht aus, als ob sie warten würde…

Die Marina hat pepperbird inzwischen tatsächlich aus dem Wasser geholt und an Land gestellt. James, die gute Seele, war letztes Wochenende dort, um nach dem rechten zu sehen. Außer dass sie ein bisschen verstaubt ist, scheint alles in Ordnung zu sein.
Mit Aaron ist nun vereinbart, dass er unser Boot in der Woche vor unserer Ankunft wieder zu Wasser lässt und an einem Schwimmsteg fest macht. Wir wollen hoffen, dass da nichts mehr dazwischen kommt.
The marina has actually hauled pepperbird out of the water and put on the hard standing. James, the Good Soul, was there last weekend to check if everything’s fine. Except of some dust on her decks, everything seems quite in order.
With Aaron I have arranged that he will relaunch her the week before we shall arrive and moor her on a floating pontoon. We do hope that there will be no more obstacles.
Diese Anoden werden noch ein paar Wochen ausreichen

Letzten Samstag hatten wir endlich auch ein Crewtreffen. Michael wird mir bei der Überstellung helfen, aber nach der Ankunft in den Niederlanden bald abreisen. Dafür kommen Agnieszka und Carsten aus Brandenburg nach, um den zweiten Teil des Urlaubs mit mir auf der pepperbird zu verbringen. Für ein paar Tage werden wir aber auch zu viert sein – dieselbe Crew wie 2019 auf der Alsedo in den Kanarischen Inseln.Wenn sich mein neuer Job noch länger verzögert – und zurzeit schaut es sehr danach aus – kann ich vielleicht ein vierte Woche anhängen und schon einige Reparaturen vor dem Einwintern erledigen.
Last Saturday we finally had a crew meeting. Michael will help me with the transfer but will leave soon after arriving in the Netherlands. Before his departure Agnieszka and Carsten will come over from Brandenburg to spend the second part of the holiday aboard the pepperbird. For a few days there will also be the four of us – the same crew as in 2019 on the Alsedo in the Canary Islands.
If my new job is delayed even longer – and it currently looks very much like it – I can maybe add a fourth week and do some repairs before wintering.
Ab jetzt wird es vor allem darauf ankommen, ob wir einen Flug nach England bekommen. In Österreich gibt es nach wie vor ein Landeverbot für Flüge aus Großbritannien und daher gibt es auch keine Flüge nach London. Aber vielleicht können wir unseren Flug nach Bratislava umbuchen, die Slowakei ist für das United Kingdom offen („low risk area“).
Eine letzte Variante wäre eine Fahrt mit dem Auto nach Rotterdam und eine Passage mit der Fähre von Hoek van Holland nach Harwich. Aber das würde wohl zwei Tage benötigen. Irgendwie müssen wir nach England kommen, ab dann sollte alles wie im März geplant ablaufen können.
Es bleibt spannend!
From now on, the most important issue will be whether we can get a flight to England or not. In Austria there is still a landing ban for flights from Great Britain and therefore there are no flights to London either. But maybe we can rebook our flight to Bratislava, Slovakia is open to the United Kingdom („low risk area“).
A last option would be a car trip to Rotterdam and a passage by ferry from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. But that would probably take two days. Somehow we have to get to England, from then everything should go as planned in March.
It’s still very exciting!
