Die Arbeit geht weiter
Am 17. Mai fahre ich nach Amsterdam, um Hanna abzuholen. Leider ist die Reise per Nachtzug ausgefallen, weil es bei Hannas Waggon ein technisches Gebrechen gab. Doch auch die Fahrt über Tag war mehrmals unterbrochen, musste umgeleitet werden und sie kam dadurch erst gegen 23:00 in Amsterdam an. Zum Glück hatten wir noch eine Verbindung nach Lelystad.
The work goes on
On 17 May, I’m going to Amsterdam to pick up Hanna. Unfortunately, the journey by night train was cancelled because Hanna’s carriage had a technical problem. But the day journey was also interrupted several times, had to be diverted, and she didn’t arrive in Amsterdam until around 23:00. Fortunately, we still had a connection to Lelystad.

Etwas mehr als eine Woche haben wir Zeit und es ist nach wie vor genug zu tun: Wir wollen die Schiebeluk-Garage neu eindichten, weil sich im Herbst gezeigt hat, dass mindestens eine Schraube undicht ist, und dazu müssen wir auch die Montageleisten für die Sprayhood abnehmen, reinigen und neu montieren. Zwei regenfreie Tage werden wir dafür wohl brauchen und das ist in den Niederlanden nicht immer garantiert.
Wir starten also an einem sonnigen Tag früh am Morgen. Es geht alles so gut, dass wir am selben Abend noch alles mit Abdichtmittel montieren können. Die alten Schrauben machen uns das Leben etwas schwer, aber am Ende dürfte alles wieder dicht sein. Schon in derselben Nacht gibt es ein paar kräftige Schauer und wir sind froh, dass wir es an einem einzigen Tag geschafft haben, das Dach wieder dicht zu bekommen.
We have just over a week and there is still plenty to do: We want to reseal the sliding hatch garage because it turned out in the fall that at least one screw is leaking, and we also have to remove, clean and reinstall the mounting strips for the sprayhood.
We’ll probably need two rain-free days for this, and that’s not always guaranteed in the Netherlands.
So we set off early in the morning on a sunny day. Everything goes so well that we are able to fit everything with sealant that same evening. The old screws make life a bit difficult for us, but in the end everything should be tight again. That very night there are a few heavy showers and we are glad that we managed to seal the roof again in a single day.

Eigentlich wollte ich vor Hannas Ankunft die Lade in der Toilette fertig montiert haben, damit ich ihr eine Freude mache. Bei meiner Planung habe ich aber eine Verstrebung aus GFK hinter der Lade übersehen, darum hat sie dann nicht gepasst.
Aber von Anfang an: ursprünglich war dort eine Lade mit Waschbecken und Abfluss aus Laminat montiert, aber der Abfluss hat nie richtig funktioniert, weil das Gefälle zum Seeventil viel zu gering war. Gefallen hat uns das beige Ding eigentlich auch nicht. Also habe ich sie im Herbst samt Abfluss demontiert und weggeworfen. Im März habe ich dann eine neue Lade aus Sperrholz mit Kirsch-Furnier gebastelt, in der eine Waschschüssel ohne Abfluss gestellt werden sollte (siehe Foto oben).
Wegen der Verstrebung ließ sich die neue Lade dann jedoch nicht mehr schließen, sodass ich sie aus Frust schon wegwerfen wollte. Als Hanna dann an Bord war, konnte sie mich davon abhalten und ich fand schließlich ein „Workaround“. Leider wird man die Schüssel nun aber nicht mit der Fußpumpe füllen können, aber auch da wird uns noch etwas einfallen.
I actually wanted to have the drawer in the toilet ready before Hanna arrived so that I could make her happy. But when I was planning, I overlooked a GRP strut behind the drawer, so it didn’t fit.
But right from the start: originally there was a drawer with a laminate sink and drain, but the drain never worked properly because the gradient to the seacock was far too low. We didn’t really like the beige thing either. So I dismantled it and the drain in the fall and threw it away. In March, I then made a new drawer out of plywood with cherry veneer, in which a wash bowl without a drain was to be placed (see photo above).
However, because of the bracing, the new drawer could no longer be closed, so I wanted to throw it away out of frustration. When Hanna was on board, she was able to stop me and we finally found a workaround. Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to fill the bowl with the foot pump, but we’ll work something out.

Obwohl es mittlerweile deutlich wärmer wurde, hatten wir zwischendurch auch ein paar Regentage. Diese nutzten wir für ein bisschen „Urlaub“, indem wir einmal nach Almere (modern) und einmal nach Elburg (traditionell) Tagesausflüge machten.
Although it was getting much warmer by now, we also had a few rainy days in between. We used these for a little „holiday“ by taking day trips to Almere (modern) and Elburg (traditional).
