Wie geht es jetzt weiter?
Meine ärztlichen Konsultationen haben durchwegs positive Ergebnisse gebracht. Ich mache mir jetzt weniger Sorgen und muss unmittelbar auch keine Eingriffe planen. Allerdings werde ich Anfang August noch einige zusätzliche Untersuchungen machen, aber ansonsten kann ich wohl bis in den Herbst hinein ziemlich frei planen.
Ab Mitte Juli wollen wir (Hanna, Livia, Pudel Baloo und ich) mit Matthias (erste Woche) und Werner (zweite Woche) vierzehn Tage lang Segelurlaub machen.
What will happen next?
My medical consultations have brought consistently positive results. I’m now less worried and don’t have to plan any interventions immediately. However, I will have some additional examinations at the beginning of August, but apart from that I can plan pretty freely until the fall.
From mid-July, we (Hanna, Livia, Poodle Baloo and I) want to go on a fortnight’s sailing holiday with Matthias (first week) and Werner (second week).
Seit 28. Juni steht der Mast wieder…
The mast is up again since June 28…
Zur Mast-Geschichte müssen ein paar Bemerkungen gemacht werden, weil wir uns ein paar Mal sehr über die Marina und manche ihrer Mitarbeiter*innen geärgert haben. Schon im Oktober 2023 habe ich unsere Pläne kommuniziert, dass wir beim Kranen Anfang Mai den Mast legen wollten, um ihn zu inspizieren bzw., falls notwendig, zu reparieren. Keiner von uns hat gerechnet, dass das alles fast zwei Monate in Anspruch nehmen würde – und zwar zwei Monate der besten Segelsaison. Insgesamt dreimal wurde der Inspektionstermin verschoben und auch der Termin für das Stellen des Mastes wurde noch einmal um 8 Tage nach hinten verlegt.
Ich hatte damit gerechnet, dass der Mast wieder steht, wenn ich mit Hanna am 25. Mai abreisen würde – aber zu dem Zeitpunkt hatte ich nicht einmal die Kostenvoranschläge für die notwendigen Arbeiten. Insgesamt haben wir für den Mast deutlich über 3.000,00 € bezahlt und ich kann nur hoffen, dass die Arbeiten ordentlich und nachhaltig ausgeführt sind.
Folgende Dinge sollten jetzt gemacht sein: neue Fallenaustritte, ein neuer Mastrutschereingang, ein neuer Tri-Lens Radarreflektor, neue LED-Lichter (Ankerlicht, Dreifarben-laterne, Dampferlicht, Deckslicht), eine neue UKW-Antenne, ein neuer Windanzeiger und neue Kabel für Antenne und Lichter.
A few comments need to be made about the mast story, because we have been very annoyed with the marina and some of its employees on a few occasions. Already back in October 2023, I communicated our plans with them that we wanted to lay the mast at the crane at the beginning of May in order to inspect it and, if necessary, repair it. None of us anticipated that this would take almost two months – two months of the best sailing season. The inspection date was postponed a total of three times, and the date for setting the mast was later also moved back another 8 days.
I had expected the mast to be standing again when I left for Vienna with Hanna on May 25 – but at that point I didn’t even have the cost estimates for the necessary work. In total, we paid well over €3,000.00 for the mast and I can only hope that the work has been carried out properly and sustainably.
The following items should now have been done: new halyard exits, a new sail car entrance, a new Tri-Lens radar reflector, new LED lights (anchor light, tricolour lantern, steamer light, deck light), a new VHF antenna, a new wind indicator and new cables for the antenna and lights.

Ende Juli werde ich mit Werner (Crew-Mitglied für die Reise auf die Kanaren) nach Wien zurückfliegen, um noch ein paar Arzttermine wahrzunehmen. Am 08. August treffe ich mich dann wieder mit Matthias am Boot, um den Träger für die Solarpaneele zusammenzubauen.
Wenn Matthias am 21. August wieder abreist, wird Hanna zurückkommen und wir wollen dann für die nächsten paar Wochen in Lelystad bleiben, vor allem um die Innenarbeiten (Wandverkleidungen, Elektroleitungen, Salonfenster etc.) weitgehend abzuschließen. Wir hoffen, dass wir bis Ende September/Mitte Oktober, die Renovierung großteils abgeschlossen haben, sodass für das Frühjahr 2025 nur mehr wenig – vor allem die Ergänzung der Sicherheitsausrüstung – zu machen ist.
At the end of July, I will fly back to Vienna with Werner (crew member for the trip to the Canary Islands) to attend a few more medical appointments. On August 8th I will meet Matthias again at the boat to assemble the support for the solar panels.
When Matthias leaves on August 21, Hanna will be back, and we want to stay in Lelystad for the next few weeks, mainly to complete the interior work (wall covering, electrical wiring, saloon windows, etc.). We hope that we will have largely completed the renovation by the end of September/mid-October, so that there is little left to do for spring 2025 – primarily the addition of safety equipment.
