Der Montag war kein einfacher Tag für uns, aber am Ende war es dann so weit: Die pepperbird ist im Wasser und sie ist dicht.
Monday was no easy day for us, but in the end the time has come: pepperbird is in the water and there is no water ingress.
Leider nur ein Kurzbesuch…
Unfortunately only a short visit …
Am Montag nach dem Frühstück haben wir Aaron in der Marina getroffen: Die pepperbird würde um ca. 11:00 Uhr zu Wasser gelassen. Da wir nicht einfach warten wollten, sind wir noch zu einer weiteren Chandlery gefahren, wo wir endlich die Signalsmittel bekommen haben, die uns noch fehlten. Leider hatten sie nicht die passenden Leinen für unsere neuen Festmacher.
Die pepperbird steht bei unserer Rückkehr noch immer in ihrem Gestell, von den Leuten der Marina ist nichts zu sehen. Also fahren wir weiter nach Ipswich, um dort nach den Festmachern zu schauen und die Miete für das Auto zu verlängern. Wegen der Verzögerung bleiben wir noch eine Nacht im Hotel.
Leider können wir die Miete nicht verlängern, weil das Auto schon vergeben ist, einen anderen Wagen gibt es auch nicht. Also probieren es bei einer anderen Firma – Fehlanzeige. Es zeigt sich, dass es in ganz Ipswich kein Auto für uns gibt, dass wir Edward, den Vorbesitzer, nicht mehr in der Marina treffen würden und auch nichts mehr an Bord erledigen würden können.
On Monday after breakfast we met Aaron in the marina: The pepperbird would be launched at around 11:00 a.m. Since we didn’t just want to wait, we drove to another Chandlery, where we finally got the rescue flares that we were still missing. Unfortunately they didn’t have the rope that would be suitable for our new mooring lines.
The pepperbird is still in its cradle when we return, nothing to be seen of the people at the marina. So we drive on to Ipswich to check on the mooring lines and to extend the rental for the car. Because of the delay, we will stay in the hotel one more night.
Unfortunately we cannot extend the rental because the car is already taken, and there is no other car. So we try another company – no result. It turns out that there is no car for us in all of Ipswich, that we would not meet Edward, the previous owner, in the marina, and we would not be able to do anything on board.
Das sehen wir erst am nächsten Tag.
