Am Morgen des 14. März hätten wir von Wien nach London Stansted fliegen sollen. Von dort wollten wir mit einem Mietwagen zum Suffolk Yacht Harbour fahren. Dann wollten wir die pepperbird seeklar machen und am 18. März wäre die Überfahrt in die Niederlande geplant gewesen.

On the morning of March 14th we should have been flying from Vienna to London Stansted. There we wanted to rent a car and drive to Suffolk Yacht Harbor. Then we wanted to make the pepperbird clear for the sea and on March 18th the crossing to the Netherlands would have been planned.

Nachdem die österreichische Regierung am Abend des 12. März die ganze Welt zum Risikogebiert erklärt hatte, war klar, dass wir nicht würden fahren können. Die folgenden drei Wochen war ich also damit beschäftigt eine Alternative für das Boot zu finden und mich damit abzufinden, dass der Freude über das eigene Boot nicht der Spaß eines ersten Nordsee-Törns folgen würde. Dabei wären die Wind- und Wetterverhältnisse zur fraglichen Zeit (~18.03.) durchaus geeignet für die Überfahrt gewesen.
In der Zwischenzeit habe ich einen Vertrag für die nächsten drei Monate abgeschlossen, der eine Lagerung an Land vorsieht, sobald in der Marina wieder mit dem Travel-Lift gearbeitet wird. Niemand kann heute sagen, wann das sein wird. Wann es wieder Reisen in andere europäische Länder geben wird, kann heute auch noch niemand wissen. Ich denke, ich kann von Glück sagen, wenn ich in diesem Jahr überhaupt noch eine Ausfahrt mit meinem Boot machen kann.
After the Austrian government had declared the whole world a „region on risk“ on the evening of March 12, it was clear that we would not be able to travel. The following three weeks I was busy finding an alternative place for the boat and trying to come to terms with the fact that the joy of having my own boat would not be followed by the fun of a first sailing trip over the North Sea. The wind and weather conditions, though, at the time in question (~ March 18), would have been quite suitable for the crossing.
In the meantime I have signed a contract for the next three months, which provides storage on land as soon as the Travel-Lift in the marina is operating again. Nobody can tell today when that will be the case. Nobody knows yet when there will be trips to other European countries again. I think I would be lucky if I could make a boat trip this year at all.
